Look back at Mental Health Awareness Week

Mental Health Awareness Week took place from Monday 15 to Sunday 21 May. Stamp It Out joined in to raise awareness on the importance of mental health and having conversations surrounding this.

To kick start #MHAW23, our Stamp It Out Children and Young Person Lead, Sophie, visited King James Academy and engaged with over 100 students about mental health. It was a positive event, with conversation focusing on this year's #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek theme of 'anxiety'.

Sophie visited New College Durham and was joined by other leading organisations in County Durham. It was great to connect and showcase to students and staff support opportunities in the area and encourage conversations surrounding mental health and stigma - especially as it was #MHAW23!

During #MHAW23, Stamp It Out hosted the opportunity for communities to come together to talk about this year's theme of anxiety. The event offered the chance for you to meet our Stamp It Out Ambassadors, talk about all things mental health and enjoy some refreshments.

We'd like to thank our Stamp It Out Ambassadors and those that came along for their support in spreading positive messaging surrounding mental health to stamp out the stigma together.

Stamp It Out connected with some of our Ambassadors for #MHAW23 at the Pioneering Care Centre in Newton Aycliffe. We came together to chat about mental health and what makes us anxious individually. Following on from this, everyone got into groups and took part in a fun exercise, where they created their own newspaper draft that had a positive spin on mental health - as the press and media have previously been negative towards mental health. It was great to see lots of fantastic ideas come together.

There is still time to enter our competition and design a new concept for our coasters. The theme needs to cover either our anti-stigma kid or the Stamp It Out logo.
